Platform Symphony MapReduce Developer Edition Evaluation
Last Updated:12/12/2011

Platform Symphony MapReduce Developer Edition (DE) is designed for developers to run and debug their MapReduce applications. With Platform Symphony MapReduce DE, developers can:

  • Run and debug MapReduce applications in different modes:
    • Local runner mode, where all MapReduce flow runs in a single Java process, with all setup, map, reduce, and cleanup tasks related to a job executed one by one in a single process on the local host.
    • Non-local runner or "pseudo-distributed mode", where each MapReduce daemon runs in separate JVMs for Mapper and Reducer processes on a single host cluster.
    • Grid mode, where applications can be deployed to a remote Platform Symphony MapReduce production cluster.
  • Run applications with the following distributed file systems:
    • Apache Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS). Supported HDFS and Hadoop API versions:
      • 0.21.0
      • 0.20.2
      • 0.20.203
      • 0.20.204
